    Getting Ready

A travel blog entry by cruisinseniors on Jun 24, 2015

Today I spent most of the day getting ready to depart this area tomorrow. We want to leave NLT 9 am since it is a long drive. Will probably drive straight up 281 to I-20 then east and drive around Fort Worth. So today I checked all the fluids, re-caulked above the awning over the big window. Every time it rains, water flows down the window. The ...

Got up this morning and realized it hasn't rained for about 24 hours. However, it is mostly cloudy and some of them are dark, so we'll see what the day brings. Mostly today was a down day. Bob took the car in to get it inspected since we won't be in Texas during July and was told that we didn't need to have it inspected until Dec. This morning we decided that we needed some physical activity, so we drove over to Enchanted Rock State Park. We have talked with many people through the years who have hiked the area, but never in the 25 yrs we have lived in San Antonio, have we been there. Of course Bob didn't climb up with me, but he has learned to just sit and visit with folks (just like his dad). In fact when I got back down he was talking with a couple who had been up. We sort of ...

... a heavy "R" rated movie with all the groaning we did. We also were in bed by 9:30, we were just so wiped out (it sure is hell getting older).

Got up this morning to more rain. Not a down-pour like earlier, but one of those gentle rains that you just know will last all day. However that did not stop our plans for the day. On Thursday, we decided that we would go to Fredericksburg Trade Days ...

... to the Visitor's Center to get some information on what to see in the area. We have already been to the Dr. Pepper Museum, so we opted to visit the "Homestead". This is a farm on which they teach people how to build and make things for them selves. They have woodworking, pottery, and weaving classes. They also grow their own Herbs and some vegetables and they have a gristmill where they make flour and other items. As usual, all their homemade items are expensive, beautiful and ...
