    ... and then went down for my lesson. I’d booked an all day private lesson. I’ve skied with the same instructor for 9 years now, so we went right up the gondola. This is a very thin snow year for Steamboat and it was the driest January on record. There were thin spots and rocks showing all over the mountain. These are the thinest conditions I’ve seen here.     ... you can be within a day’s travel!

    I can’t get too used to being here though. I have two back-to-back weddings in DC this weekend and next and I’m spending time on the beach in Rehoboth in between with friends, and then I go to the Berkshires for a few days so oozing out at home will have to wait, still. It’s been one fabulous summer…

    Being the only Australians on the tour, you can start to understand the nature of their patriotism. It is built into them from birth and is part of what they are like we have an affinity with the ocean.

    Finished off the day with a seafood pasta meal in the North End, which is the Italian Quarter of the the city. Great local restaurant, The Florentene in Hanover St. Bought some local pastries and then caught the T home.
