... cut that out of the itinerary. So we're making our way south-east towards Craters of the Moon National park in Idaho instead. We already got lost and had to backtrack about 1/2 hour after Steve missed the one and only turn off so far! So we're spending our first night in Yakima and getting a good night's rest before really starting our journey ...

... thought about killing ourselves. But it was cool, and then we migrated back to the canyon.

Dennis, Marj and Carol came over for dinner and we sat around BSing about old times, and hauling out the inevitable stories, told 800 million times, but with the requisite embellishments. We love that doofy Heather and know she'll be a star somewhere; she's going off to New York City, but not stardom, that's for sure, working with inner-city kids. ...

... lake was refreshing, and supposedly "healing" from special minerals. Not sure about that, since it was imperative to take shower after you got out of the lake. And a couple of days it got mighty windy forcing a treasure hunt across the park to retrieve our stuff.

Anyway, passed some of the scenic lakes along the way, Lenore Lake, etc in route to Ellensburg.

... trail where some of the petrified wood was on display. Some of the pieces were amazing in the clarity with which the rings and the bark pattern were still discernible. It was disappointing though - they had the big pieces of petrified wood in stone-walled enclosures with metal grates over them to protect them.
