After a restful night, we took our time in the AM. Went to a highly recommended breakfast place, Creekside Cafe. Sat outside on a tributary (Soda Creek) of the Yampa. S- Rancheros with eggs, and chorizo sausage J- Corned beef eggs benedict. This place more than lived up to it's reputation.

Margie and Larry had told us about the new library in town so off we went after breakfast to find it. This facility was built right on the Yampa River with beautiful views ...

Came back to the hotel and really slept well after our ...

Middle of Colorado, middle of nowhere - a place so massive that even the Colorado guidebooks don't mention it, yet vast! We drove west from Rocky Mountain National Park, still slightly stunned by the scenery, through miles and miles of ranch land with seemingly no one home. Eventually, after climbing over another pass and again crossing the Continental Divide, we arrive in Steamboat...home to a big winter ski resort, but a functional stop for us! We need ...

... desolate areas and small towns, few and far between, and we saw things from out of the past, like a drive in theater…and the marque had current movies advertised on it. And, surprisingly, we saw oil well pumps on hilltops. Not the same kind of pumps we saw in the south, but tall and sleek towers with a sliding plate that moved up and down in rhythmic fashion.

At 1:10 we crossed the state line into Colorado and at 3:30 ...
