... the Post Castle, about which I knew nothing, but which turns out to be the folly of a guy with too much money. He and his wife set about building it in 1969, copying various features of castles they saw on a trip to Europe. They got divorced, however, not many years later, and the castle was never finished. After a lengthy period of time during which the castle was an oddity attracting passersby for photo ops, the castle ...

We didn't find any, but it's an engaging activity; you end up really trying to find your prizes amongst the millions of tiny stones your either sift through or sluice. I was exhausted by the effort, myself, but I have to say the facilities here are very good. I would do it again sometime in the future.

There was a nice trail to the Little Missouri River with an overlook where you could see a few teepees across the water. By far the best place we’ve stayed so far!

I'd say this is what we were hoping for when we planned this trip, and it feels good.

... would have been perfect for a little swim, but instead we settled for a few pictures. Then we back along our way, we met another little friend this time I the form of a little lizard, we snapped a few shots of him too, and then we were headed back up the hill to our car. The weather was fantastic mid 80's- a welcomed change to the Oregon rain, but by this point I was regretting the decision to wear pants. We made our way back to the car and ...
