    Santa Barbara to Pismo Beach.....

Early start to commence our journey up Highway 1/Route 101 to Santa Barbara and then onto Pismo Beach. Santa Barbara is a very pretty Californian sea side retreat and we stopped to walk the promenade and have lunch on the Pier along with our Pelican friends! Then in 1990, biologists spotted a dozen on this beach and by 1996 over 1,000 pups were born here – ...

Yesterday to say the least was traumatic. Today will be perfect. Every time I woke last night I could here the waves crashing as we left the balcony door open. It is foggy here now but quite a few dogs are playing on the beach with their owners and one brave sole is swimming. The phone in our room does not work. A repair guy is coming to it soon. In addition to my faux pas, ...

... as it was right next to the hotel (c'mon it's cheap and quick) and Hannah was horrified to find McDonalds over here don't serve Fanta - cue much hands on hips and huffing at the drinks fountain.

Next Day we drove down to Santa Barbara and Rob took advantage of a whale watching trip leaving in 10 minutes, Hannah eyeing the calm waters decided to give it a miss as she had seen a whale before and doubted whether the water would be quite so calm out to ...
