Best Little BBQ in Town

Drove into Jefferson Tx. The place IS a booming touristy town! Jefferson has streets full of antiques stores, gift shops, restaurants, a wonderful locally made jam/jelly outlet and all kinds of nostaglic items.

We stopped at Joe;s Riverboat BBQ and had the best BBQ sandwiches. Mine was turkey and the Mr. was pork shoulder. Best meal we have had since leaving Michigan.

Next stop.... Daingerfield State Park, Daingerfield, TX.

Uncertain's Future is Certainly Uncertain

Uncertain TX is a very small touristy town in Texas. The folks here make their living off the tourists through tours, restaurants, boutiques, etc. Driving though Uncertain there was little life to be found in town. Many bed and breakfasts, cottages, cabins were either boarded up or under water. The restaurants ...

Rain Rain Rain and the River She's a Risin....

Caddo Lake State Park is a beautiful State Park in East Texas. We pulled into Caddo expecting to enjoy beautiful fall weather, do some fishing, sightseeing and river boat tours. However much of the park, and surrounding area, is under water. Two of the campgrounds were closed but ours was high enough to ...

Leaving Texas

... almost on the State border with Louisiana in our most expensive motel yet. First quoted at $149.00 per night at which we frowned and it suddenly became $90, which was heavy but we were hot and tired so that was that. The day started quite mild in the mid 80's but gradually climbed to the mid 90's so we were pleased to get into an air conditioned room. Ordered in Pizza for dinner and Lona watched a movie.

... convenience stores. For instance, I purchased twenty 20. oz Gatorade bottles at $0.70/each. Usually the same sized bottle is found in convenience stores for at least DOUBLE that! I also found those cheesy/pretzel things called Combos for pretty cheap compared to what you would pay at a convenience store. I picked up a smattering of other miscellaneous things that we needed while I was there. All in all, Big Lots is a big help! Then last night ...

... to Lambert's, you need to go! We make it a point to go to Lambert's any time we're near one! They have two locations in Missouri and one in Foley, Alabama. In the afternoon, we'll lead to Fort Walton Beach, Florida to spend a few nights there before heading on into Panama City Beach to meet my parents there at the condo. I've only ever driven through Fort Walton Beach, so I'm not sure ...

The museum's permanent collection was being rearranged but, even so, there was a nice variety to enjoy. I especially enjoyed the wood sculptures by John Hillier. www.lmfa.org/ www.robertjessup.com/ www.jhilliersculpture.com/

... offices. Usually one person behind the counter, 5+ people in line, and me just wanting a priority mail box. Why are these free boxes behind the counter anyway? Do people actually steal them? And when there are all these people in line, can't you drop the "do you need stamps, or money orders, or blah, blah" and just get on to the next customer? You know, I haven't been to laundromats in years, but every one I've found has been very nice! They're a bit warm, what with all ...

... No loss, though, as there are tons of photos online, probably better than I would have taken. Maybe if the steamboat or steam train had been running, I'd have been more excited. Oh, well.. www.jefferson-texas.com (Warning: site has one of those automatic videos you can't turn off - irritating!) I did, though, eat like a food critic - at three different places!
