... I had read/heard/seen pictures of Pigeon Forge but nothing could prepare me for the klitchy town. The main drag was wall to wall mini golfs, arcades, wax museums, Ripleys Believe it or Nots, restaurants, candy stores, tilting houses, castles, dinner theatres…. It is a kids paradise. It reminded me of the scene in Pinochio when he went to Pleasure Island.
Our next stop for two nights, was just outside Gatlinsburg, which neighbours the Smoky Mountains, the most visited national park in the whole of America. We had driven around 6 hours that day to get there, and so that evening we took to one of the local fast food joints. Although the locals in there were horrific, the food was exactly what we fancied! We started our build day early today to try to avoid the heat. Alarms starting going off around 6:15. We ate some breakfast (cereal and bagels today), and headed off to the build site. It wasn't too far away so half of us rode in the van and the other half of us rode our bikes. I was in the group that rode in the van. We get to the site just after 7:00 and get to work.
