Woke up to drizzelin rain, again, but it soon quit and I was able to unhook without getting wet. Off I went southbound and down on good ol Hwy 65. The winds were light, the traffic so, so and I had some mellow music on the radio and the time passed quickly.

Pretty road, great scenery, nice rivers and pretty soon I was rolling into Birmingham. A couple of years ago I flew into Birmingham, rented a car and drove down to Thomaston AL. In the ...

... was parking all along the road. And finally we entered Gulf Port where there was a marina and casino which we had seen on a previous trip when we had driven along these beaches from the east through Destin and Panama City.

We turned back to the north at Gulf Port and returned to I-10 for the push to Tallahassee. It was a long day of driving with a time change, getting us to the hotel after 5 PM. Tomorrow we plan to visit the capitol before heading for ...

Arrived at the campground around 2 PM after changing to central time zone. Our site is about 20 feet from the edge of the lake. We can watch the boaters from our bedroom window! We'll try to leave early tomorrow since it is another almost 300 mile day. ...

This is our first morning on this site and as the sun is cresting the trees on the far side of the creek, we are sitting in our car (heater on - it is 33 degrees), and the American Coots are collecting. (Yes, Virginia, they are preparing for their journey to Monona Bay.) They are so funny to watch dive for their food - they have a little "hop" before going under the surface. Oh, here comes the sun! There is a mist rising across the water.
