The Stone Forest
About 1 1/2 hours from Kunming, is the Stone Forest, an amazing area filled with huge limestone outcroppings. It has been designated by UNESCO as both a World Heritage Site and A World Geopark. Although it was drizzling we spent almost 3 hours walking through the stones. Not much to say about this huge city
... hiking, so I hung out in the main area. It was a bit boring, but I made some new friends.
After the Stone Forest, we headed back to the hotel and then a public bus to our 3rd overnight train.
All of the construction in China is really evident in Kunming. Everywhere you look there is a crane and grey buildings being constructed. Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province.

A few days in Kunming!
... early afternoon-ish but her flight was delayed a few hours. She eventually arrives around 7-8pm, sorts herself out and head out for some food and to check out the nearby nightlife. We are only here for one more night after tonight though and unfortunately she wasn’t feeling too well so we ended up just chilling out with a beer or two in the hostel, where I give her some basic refresher Chinese lessons.

A Walk to Shanghuangbao
... loud thunder. Electricity went out during the storm and the rain was incredibly heavy – never heard or seen rain like that before. Parts of the school were temporarily flooded with a lot of standing water everywhere. In the morning you were able to see the school grounds, paths and roads covered in red soil where water had taken the soil down the hills – a right mess.
