    Franz Joseph near west coast Glacier. Superb scenery. Had a good ride today got here earlier about 2.30pmish. Had a rest as we are both so tired. In a lovely unit. It is like being in the rain forest again. Downstairs appartment this time number 2. We have a table and chairs outside patio and ferns abound. We have been for a walk and got some food …

    ... out in the cold trying to cook some rice on the camp stove that came with our van. When we woke up the next morning the frost was even thicker than in Queenstown, and Ed's wet trunks had frozen solid overnight! We were toasty under our two duvets though. After a quick cup of tea and cereal we hit the road, more so that we could warm up with the effective van heaters than anything else! Next stop, the West Coast beaches.     ... in a bit of throwing stones in the water. We wandered along the lakeside which was lined by cafes and shops and in an attempt to stop Chloe "feeding" stones to the ducks we popped into the lakeside bike rental place which also sold fish food. We got a surprise when we started to feed the fish as a large crowd of enormous Eels turned up. As there was a selection of gentle bike tracks in the area we decided to rent bikes for an hour- the first time Chloe has been on one before. ...
