We left Alamogordo this morning and drove to Carlsbad, New Mexico. We camped shortly after noon, set up camp, and drove to see the famous Carlsbad Caverns. This is a huge cavern and we took the self-guided tour which cover 1.25 miles. We were 750' below ground level, and thankfully they have an elevator for those who don't care to traverse that distance on foot. The next stage of our incredible journey started Monday afternoon.
The train was scheduled to leave Chicago at 2pm, but due to track work, it didn't actually leave till nearer 4pm. so of course we were late at all stops.
