... weak, and tired. Not a good situation considering the trail cumulatively climbed 6000 feet in the next 20 miles. I dragged for 10 miles, having climbed 3700 feet by then. Finally I stopped at 12pm, ate lunch and took an hour nap. That nap totally revitalized me. I got my power back and got the kick back in my stride. The rest of the climb ...

... The sunrise was magnificent this morning. From the cliff where I was camped, I had an amazing view of the valley below shrouded in clouds, a total cloud inversion. The sun arose from the mountains on the other side of the valley. That was my view as I had breakfast. My tarp, ground cloth, and bug mesh were wet due to the condensation. I dislike packing wet gear. I was able to dry out the gear around 9 miles later over a ...

... well. As I was nearing Buck's Lake Road, a mountain biker spooked me, coming at me from behind. WTF!!!! Apparently he ignored the signs plastered all over the trail. NO MOUNTAIN BIKES OR MOTORIZED VEHICLES. And he had the audacity to tell me to move. I said to him, "Do you know you are on the PCT? No mt. bikes allowed." He simply said, "ya, I know, have a good day." What a jerk!! Apparently other ...

... The water sources were not that spread out. And even if they were, not a big deal because it had been not hot at all. I made it to the Middle Fork of the Feather River, not realizing how much elevation it dropped. Down to 3000 feet from 7000. This river is nice, with warm water and a nice swimming hole. I am glad i camped here. Tomorrow I have a steep climb out of ...

... first time I have ever had an Ensure. Heck, the dietitians push that on our malnourished patients at work. I figured how bad could it be. I actually liked it. Total breakfast calories was about 900. One thing is for sure, I was charging up the mountain fast and I didn't get hungry until 10 miles later. I was enjoying the scenery the whole way up. Very impressive views. Very green and lots of pine trees. To my surprise, as I was ascending this morning, I heard ...
