... backpackers, as they all seem to have same good-natured, fun-spirited and open personalities, always willing to engage in conversation, to make a new friend and learn about a different place.<br><br>As sad as we were to leave Fiji, there is so much more to come...<br><br>Quote of the trip: "In Fiji, we see the first sun, so if we're an hour delayed it doesn't really matter, we're still ahead of the rest of the world."<br><br>"The main goal ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jordan-amanda... hope we aren't woken up from them all night. They are a very unique group of people. One guy was walking around in a bright orange speedo with a giant koala bear stuffed animal... another guy in shiny gold pants.... another guy in a kids ninja turtle costume cut as a middrift top with half the shell and then the other half attached to the pants.... and so on. They put stuff on like that every night after ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji erinandpaul07... 8211; a Taiwanese girl who was pretty much the only other person staying at my hotel - and I went to visit the town centre. Not long after arriving we were approached by a charming gentleman who insisted upon giving us the 'Traditional Bula Welcome Ceremony' to Fiji. This consisted of us going to his shop, taking our shoes off and drinking four bowls each of a crazy concoction – cava - that almost certainly had some dubious/illegal substances in it. Suitably ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji dantheeducator... a fire dance. Then we all got up to do the Bula Dance - to bring good weather. <br><br>Korovou - Checked out from Kuata. HORRIBLE WEATHER. Bula dance, did not work. We started to get a little worried about the little boat we had to get on to get onto the big ferry. It was horribly bumpy, really bad. Then we tried to get up close to the ferry but the little boat kept on going away. Some people had got off our boat so it was lighter, so MORE bumpy. Em tried to get out, had one ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji amyboxshall... wasn't well so she gave me her voucher. Not gonna lie, I was quite terrified, especially when we had to swim under water into a pitch black cave!! But it was very cool. I think my highlight of the 12 days was snorkeling with Manta Rays. I didn't even know what they looked like but soon found out they're not hard to miss!! Some are 5 meters wide!!! Massive!!! It was so much fun, we had a 30 min boat ride to get to the site where they are most regularly ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji annaobeirne... root. It looks like puddle water...and tastes like what I imagine puddle water should taste like, with a slight menthol taste afterwards, like mouthwash. Its nasty but would be impolite not to drink it. Its not alcoholic but makes you feel sleepy if you drink a lot & makes your tongue go numb, weird stuff! So we had a few rounds of that, but I couldn't force enough down me to feel any effect from it, so the girls & I left the lads to it.<br><br>We spent our last day on ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji dixie87... coladas i've had in my life!!! i decided to try the reef fish selection since i was eager to try some of the local seafood and when the lady said that it was mahi mahi i was sold. with my first bite i was in heaven! like the colada, the mahi was some of the best i've tasted anywhere. <br><br>satisfied with a great meal and a some fun conversation i headed off to bed as i had an early start the next morning. i was catching the ferry to the Yasawa Islands! <br><br><br><br><br>
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji katelin... prowess can sing his song by matching the tune to "Give Me Hope Joanna" with the words Give me oh colema, give me oh colema, I gotta a oh colema where the sun don´t shine..), he decided he would write a List Of Things To Do Before I Die. I guess then this is a list of hopes and dreams, one that reflects a potential lifetime of goals and ambitions... After pondering for a long time over the contents of the list, Jamie finally took out his biro with a flourish and wrote:"No. 1 ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jessjamie... the rest of the afternoon to preserve our energy. That evening we met with Christine and Simon, another student, to go through the procedures for night diving and learn the special under water signals needed for night diving. Soon the four of us were speeding towards the "Sandbank". By the time we got there it was totally dark and I was a bit nervous which is to be expected the first time you go on a night dive. We were told to watch out for octopus, lobster ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji alandrach... because of the fact that they don't have to catch the 8.10 fast local, but they just seem to walk a pace slower. The other difference is their language. It is a modified version of Hindi which is referred to Fiji-Hindi. So instead of 'Dhayawad' they say 'Dhanbad'. The Fiji way of saying 'main accha hoon' is 'Right hain'. And 'Ek Do Teen' is 'Ek Dui Teen'. I had much fun conversing with them in Hindi whenever I got the opportunity ...
