Excellent location. Rooms on 5th floor or higher have view of lake. Rooms are small with some traffic noise. Very nice complimentary breakfast. Close to good restaurants. We recommend it.

It's about seven weeks before we start the Selkirk Tour on Sept 1. Bob is on his Motorcycle scouting the route that we will ride. The pictures he has sent are beautiful. I'm really looking forward to it. Linda and I are staying close to home anticipating our first grandchild around the 6th of August. Maureen, Dick, Bob and I ...

... my ass off.  One of the things that I will remember most about doing the Tahoe Rim Trail is the crazy amount of trail magic we got. Every single day somebody gave us something or helped us somehow. First of course there was the amazing experience at bob the bikers, then we ran into some minnesotans who were attempting to do the whole trail but packed too much food. They gave us at least 80 bucks worth of freeze dried food to split. The next day ...

... out and we had a wonderful time getting back into the groove. After a couple of easy practice runs we did intermediate runs where Pete was kind to make sure I was keeping up. He then went to the summit and I did a couple of runs on my own. We then met for coffee - they serve a good latte - and had the final run together. Lovely. We then picked up Jess and Liv after lunch to ski with them and had the adventure described by both above. Hmmmm trying to ...

... We thought we were fine but then when we got out of Reno on 395 we drove up on heavy snow. All cars were diverted to talk to someone from state highway. I asked if we should turn back since we did not have chains. The person working the diversion told us to be careful and kind of giggled. It was not reassuring but we were not convinced turning back was the best call either. We got Ralph on the phone and he started doing play by play on ...

Our first runs of the season

A travel blog entry by onighjoy on Feb 08, 2013

Woke up today to find out it had only snowed a disappointing 2 inches. Even before we started skiing, I knew the mountain needed a lot more since it hadn't snowed for about 2 weeks. Once again, I seem to always get bad conditions (or I don't get super powdery days). However, today must have been so much better than yesterday so I'm thankful for that. At least it was carve-able.

The new skis were quite different in feel. The ...
