    ... the passing people.... even saw an owner with 2 big dogs with shoes on their feet!!
    The New Jersey National Guard Army Band put on a free concert at the Convention Hall, so off we went on foot to the Hall, and found ourselves a great elevated seat to watch the most enjoyable 2 hour concert - they played upbeat traditional,Jazz, contemporary to rock music...finishing with the theme music from USA ...

    ... was horrific. The traffic was congested and we altered our route to get off route 30. Luckily we had our audio book and learned more about the War of 1812.

    Even after a great get-away, it always feels so good to get home again to our beloved Cape May.

    Atlantic City was the last stop on our loop back to fly out from New York. We stayed the night at a Casino Hotel.....weird place!

    The morning was spent down on the boardwalk and beach. A tractor type machine rakes the beach to clear the debris of the night before.

    ... and learned about the Coast Guard festival coming up in a few weekends (just missed it!). It was wonderful to spend time catching up with Heather, while the waves crashed along the shore. The tall grasses and sand dunes are just like Cape Cod - it's easy to understand what drew them to this small Victorian town.

    After much deliberation, we settled on the Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall for a delicious dinner in a cozy setting (see picture below).

    I made two trips to Atlantic City while a cadet, at the end of cow and then firstie years. Cow year was post-TEE leave, when a group of Gups (Frank, Mikey, Luke et al.) rented a house near the beach. Despite some unmentionable moments (Scarlett Johansson, anyone?) we had a lot of fun and were able to enjoy some relaxing time together before CLDT and breaking up for the summer. A year later, ...
