... prairies with billowing golden grasses and through small towns.

A quirky attraction caused us to detour 12 miles to visit Bishops Castle. Mr. Bishop has been building this fanciful “castle” since 1969. It features a fire-breathing dragon that comes to life between Memorial Day and Labor Day, along with numerous turrets, narrow circular staircases and vast, empty rooms. She knew we were headed to Colorado and said we must do this trip. So Bree got in there and did the research, and here we are leaving Royal Gorge, stoked about another epic day.
We joined the afternoon groups, got kitted up, put on the bus and dropped down in ...

... girls who were quite entertaining. We were grouped with an older couple, their friend, and one of their older sons.

The hikes between the lines ranged from short ~ no problem in the heat and altitude ~ to OMG ~ call me an ambulance! But we all made it and they had strategically placed water stations though-out.
