The next target became a beach further along the shore and we reached this one at lunch time. This ...

We awoke to rain, which made preparing the trailer for its last day out a bit hard for John, who had to dump the tanks. I took a photo of the RV park, which sits at the base of some beautiful cliffs. We looked out on these cliffs. Fortunately, the rain broke for a few minutes and I was able to get a nice photo.

... Praying not to get a puncture (and probably in breach of our car hire policy), we eventually came upon the ghost town that is Bodie. Peaking at the height of a gold boom in the mid 19th century, fires and diminishing returns gradually killed off the town - at one stage having a population of 10,000. About 5% of the town's buildings still remain, uninhabited and locked in time, abandoned as if evacuated and never reopened. The town store still has ...

... they will need for a week. It is held in a dry river bed and everyone and everything is covered with dust by the end of the week. I guess some of them decided to come to the Casino after it was all over and we saw a lot of strangely dressed people walking around. Glad we missed that event!

Fred didn't have much luck at the ***** table this time, but I won $141.57 on a Breakfast at Tiffany's slot machine, so together we came out ...
