Ori Tours continued west towards the Pacific. We followed the Columbia river towards Astoria, named after John Jacob Astor's port for shipping his furs. It's an attractive town with some fine Art Deco buildings. We did veer off Nick's itinerary, though, stopping off at a different coffee place. The Columbia River is massive, full of large cargo ships waiting to be piloted inland. A lengthy bridge ...

Two of them were orphaned girl puppies who followed the kids around like...well...puppies. ... the trip!)

July 24th Tues. When I woke at 7:30 after a good night sleep it was 58 degrees. Been a long time since seeing morning temps of that low. I dressed, took my pills and drove on. As I neared Paisley Oregon and began slowing for a turn--a deer popped out in front of me, and he hesitated for just a second--and we missed each other! It is a clear blue sky day. I am sitting in Paisley typing this as I contend with a nosebleed! And will get fuel and move ...
