Well what a day! We were out the door by 8:30ish. Stopped in the Dalles to see Jess and the grandchildren. It was so good to see them. The kids are growing so much. We then headed east in the sweltering heat. Thank god for AC. It's been a while since I've seen the east side of Oregon. It is absolutely beautiful. We landed at Wallowa Lake State Park at 5:00. Kids set up camp while I cooked a pork tenderloin dinner. Nice relaxing evening under the stars ...

... were very welcoming. Most wore badges and patches on their coats and all looked as though they had distinguished careers. We liked the chap who took us on a tour of a B17. Now widowed after being married for 62 years, he was now living with a 'lady friend'. As for the plane, it was fascinating to see how cramped and cold the crew must have been. Upstairs was a set of firearms, the owners of Evergreen being big NRA supporters, which was all a bit ...

On our way to McMinnville, we traveled through the beautiful Willamette Valley and Oregon's most famous wine country. We stopped at Tyee Vineyards ...

... any toenails. And I'm not very sore today. I do feel the muscles in my legs tightening, but I went about my day without a second thought. The last time I walked 13 miles was a year ago when I did the Albany Half Marathon and lost many toenails and could barely walk the next day.

Next weekend, I plan to do a similar jaunt; though I do think I will take more time between each leg. I believe that if I would stop competing with myself; trying ...

... Costa Rica including:A stay at Esterillos at a place called Encantada with really nice people. There we met four friendly dogs, much to the happiness of the kids. Two of them were orphaned girl puppies who followed the kids around like...well...puppies. We spent those days frolicking more in the pool than the ocean because we saw a sting ray in the water, walking the beach and soaking up the sun and energy during our last days of our trip. On the last ...
