The route we took (299) was a great road for the bike, but the construction delays were a bit of a downer. I liked several of the small towns we rode through, especially Weaverville.

We made it to Chico by 1:30 and checked into the hotel to get ready for the tour.

Finally I stopped at 12pm, ate lunch and took an hour nap. That nap totally revitalized me. I got my power back and got the kick back in my stride. The rest of the climb ...

... ridge before I descended down into Belden. The descent was steep, from 7000 feet to 2000 feet, with lots of poison ivy to dodge on the way down. Descending down, you begin to see the north fork of the Feather River and the podunk town of Belden, if it can even be called that. The trail crosses the Belden Resort that apparently was completely rented out for the weekend for some big rave festival called Camp **** It Up. ...

I guess we were supposed to meet at the Rock bldg. by 8 AM and be on the road headed towards the Silver Lake and the Gold Lake trail head sometime soon after that. With everything packed and the girls situated in their groups we eagerly took off. Adios city, cell phone and comforts. Hello country, conversation and camping. In the Expedition we had a small group of 6 girls plus Amor and I. Our 2 ...
