Historical Traveler Reviews Paradice Motel South Lake Tahoe

    A1 Service!

    from

We had a perfect 20th anniversary weekend at the Paradice Motel. I chose that hotel based on it's trip advisor rating. The room was a bit small, but adequate. Beautifully decorated. We had a little trouble with the cable tv, but the owners replaced our tv immediately. When we told them we were celebrating our anniversary, the next time we came back to our room, they had decorated it with a banner and gave us imported champagne! Very comfortable beds, fan in the room. We had fruit, candy, gift bags, and even water for the drive home! Location was fantastic. We rented bikes and kiyaks and they made us reservations for the casino show. I have never had this kind of service in my life. Bravo to the new young owners!

    Hidden Jewel

    from

Noting the great reviews in Trip Advisor, we contacted the Paradice Motel by phone. The owner booked us for one night on August 19,2007. When we checked in, we had the opportunity of meeting the owners, Jason and Perrine. They are a very young couple that have devoted all their time and energy to refurbishing and updating this motel. The colors, furniture and bedding all worked so well. Very clean and soothing. The clean fresh air of Lake Tahoe along with the positive energy of our room, made this a memorable experience. We have advised all of our family and friends to stay here when visiting Lake Tahoe.

    Loved it!

    from

What an adorable motel. From the outside it doesn't look like anything special (not bad, just typical), but once you get inside the rooms it was fantastic. I love boutique hotels and this one doesn't disappoint. From the relaxing decor to the fruit plate to the turn down service, Paradice was a great experience. The front desk staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be staying there next time we are in Lake Tahoe.

    A great find!

    from

We found Paradice when looking for a reasonably priced room to stay on a Saturday night to go to a concert at the Harrah's ampitheater. The location was awesome, walking distance to the casinos, shopping & restaurants. The room was clean and nicely decorated in a cool & comfortable way, (no cheesy polyester bedspread). The hospitality of the owners was above & beyond what you would expect and it was very impressive. I would give it a 5 but our room didn't have a/c and it was just a little on the small side, but overall a great place to stay!

    Wow! Lots of special touches.

    from

My husband and I decided to go to Tahoe on a whim. We are so glad that we chose the Paradice Motel. Our room was very clean, well decorated (think Ikea) and very spacious! I was also pleasantly surprised that we had a microwave and a mini fridge.

The owners also had put a fruit plate in our room with a nice welcome message on the chalk board. Every morning there are pastries and delicious coffee in the office.

It is about a ten minute walk to the beach (which you get a free admission from the hotel), and ten to fifteen minutes to the casinos (depending on the lights).

We ate at the Edgewood based on the owner's recommendation (great restaurant).

Upon checking out, we were given a gift of a snack and bottled water for our drive home. Very thoughtful.

    We will be back!

I will definitely choose it again when I visit Tahoe!

This motel was much better choice then the expensive hotels around. It is a motel and may not have a swimming pool, but it is much better and personal than the average standard hotel rooms.

It is very close to state line, the village and beach. The rooms have lots of Ikea look and feel - stylish and contemporary - lots of attention to details.

Bathroom is very nice (loved the scrub-soap).

The young owners Jason and Perrine (hope I spelled her name correctly) are very friendly. They welcome you with fruit plate in the room, and in the evening they prepare your bed for sleeping and leave chocolates and Perrier including a good night note in your room. They make you feel very welcome and comfortable.

Also we just got a friendly thank you post card from them!

I hope they don't raise their prices too high :)), since we are coming back!

    Wow! Great place!

    from

We stayed here because it was one of the only places close to the casinos that was available, and what a nice surprise we had. The room was very clean, well furnished, and decorated with lots of nice upgrades. We especially appreciated the high quality sheets! What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail and SERVICE that the owners put in to it. Our one and only complaint was that we happened to be in Tahoe on a very hot night, and our room had no A/C. (Hence the 4 stars) Although it's not common to be that warm at night in Tahoe, if you're going in the summer, I'd recommend that you request A/C in the room. Again, the couple who owns the place was really fantastic. I take my hat off to them!

    Fantastic spot!!

    from

Just came back from a wedding in Tahoe and had a fantastic time! Much in part to the fantastic service and hospitality of the Paradice Motel. The couple running the motel were very friendly and helped with directions/suggestions on what and where to go. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the turndown service was a wonderful surprise! I will be returning to the motel the next time I'm in Tahoe without a doubt. Thanks for the great hospitality, keep up the good work!!

Modest yet a cut above - a pleasant surprise.

    from

We learned that this motel is owned and run by a young couple who took a rather average property and put some love and care into it. They are very friendly and accommodating. The interiors are clean and nicely decorated and the beds are pillow-topped mattresses that were a welcome relief to our travel weary backs. Every night we received chocolates and Perrier.

The location was good. We were within easy walking distance to South Lake Tahoe shopping and dining as well as the lake. Speaking of the lake, we got a free pass to the beach park just down the street.

The price was very reasonable for the area. The Paradice Motel exceeded our expectations.

Pair of dice is very nice

    from

Just back from Tahoe, this was my 8th trip. My stay at the Paradice Motel was my best motel expreince ever! Dont get me wrong this is no Four Seasons but I think someone forgot to tell the staff. This place is a little pricier than most of the motels in tahoe but worth every cent (maybe even more) (dont tell them!) The rooms are all remodeled and i felt like i was staying in someones home (really nice home) The staff all think they work at the Ritz and will bend over backwards to make sure your happy. THey clean the room twice a day and even leave a chocolate on your pillow. This is the only place i will ever stay in Tahoe in the future. This little gem of a "motel" I highly recommend it and then some.

Indeed I do have a headache and feel tired, and just want this section to end. The surface is now undulating slightly, and just as I get to the crest of one mound, certain that this is near the end, I see that there is at least another kilometre or so spreading out ahead of me. Eventually, however, I see the hut and campsite in a green gully with a stream down below.

Its actually more tiring than it looks for the first hour after lunch as the trail continuously dips up and down crossing crevaces in the valley floor. Eventually this section is left behind and after a while a stunning vista emerges, looking down to site of the next campsite next to Altavatn lake, far below. The lake lies in an area studded with ridges and pyramidal hills, all in ...

We entered Sequoia National Forest and were greeted by a river and a bounty of trees. So much better than that crowded general store on a holiday weekend. We are now at nearly 11k ft. This elevation is tough considering all the extra pack weight we gained to handle the bears and mountains. The trees here truly are beautiful. A great inspiration.

... At Stateline the casinos of Nevada suddenly gave way to the motels and shops of California's South Lake Tahoe and our motel. Desperate for a beer and a curry we spent ages trying to find the Taj Mahal curry house. I was getting ratty and Neil quiet. Eventually we found it and celebrated our arrival. Back in Neil's room we opened the Canadian whiskey and I played Kate Bush's 'Lake Tahoe'. Well, you have ...
