We had booked two nights in a beach villa and we decided to stay an extra night. The location is beautiful and the beach villa was amazing. Very clean, spacious and with a breathtaking view. I definitely recommend staying there.

The village lost 120 people from the ash and smoke of the eruption that went over 9kms into the sky – unlike Pompeii lava wasn’t the issue. The destruction of the pink and white terraces were sudden and violent.

... is to see the glow worms. I didn't really know what to expect but I have to say it is probably one of very few times I was left speechless. We walked down to a small raft that took us up and down this tunnel which was about the size of a car tunnel. The walls and the ceiling were covered in these small green lights which were the glow worms. He did explain about how and why they glow but I really can't remember. You could ...

After a pretty hazy hangover from our night out in Auckland, we travelled through to Rotorua and for the first time, really experiencing New Zealand's magnificent green rolling hills. The scenery all around you is just incredible and as much as I love a city, I was glad to be out into the country. So as previously mentioned, Kelly suggested we done Black Water Rafting. What is that you ask, well it was rafting through caves. Yeah, I'm not much of a caver and even though Ben has ...

... one to let us out!! We knew we had arrived in Rotorua when the smell of sulphur invaded our senses! Richard was more immune (reminiscent of Robin who never had much of a sense of smell!) and we decided to spend our first night in a in a Top 10 to wash and fill up with drinking water. The first day we took fairly gently visiting the museum. It was really fantastic. The first part told the story of the thermal baths visited by the rich ...
