... We got some gas at the circle K gas station, after pressing every button the pump had to offer, and headed to the post office via Mon's.

Chores complete we popped into Lowe's to pick-up some supplies for our impending 2,000 mile road trip. American supermarkets contain everything you could possibly need, Friskies 'Party Mix' cat treats, one gallon cartons of milk, two kilos of plastic wrapped cheese and 4 kilogram bags ...

... task. All these stops are beautifully renovated and have a story to tell of their origin and place in Route 66 history. There is a sign across the road, which is one of the most photographed signs along the Route, the Welcome to Midpoint sign. We ate the pie, it was ok, have made better!! We continued on through roadside deserted ghost towns where inhabitants had been forced to leave after the building of ...

... thunderstorm so the bikes were in one of the garages and we could have drinks in one of the others. The phone is one of the older types with the central dial which works well. There is even a candlewick bedspread on our bed with a blue swallow in the middle.

Off the dinner at the local Mexican called the Pow Wow restaurant - good food and fun atmosphere with the Lizard lounge and theme throughout.

Tomorrow, we are off to Sante Fe for a couple of days.
