It was day 2 of my road trip down the California coast. I had plenty of miles to cover and plenty of things to see and do. In fact, it would prove to be a much longer day than I had originally anticipated. I made sure I was up and organised nice and early. I checked out, scoffed a bit of brekkie at the hotel, grabbed a banana and a yoghurt to go, …

... with people out and about enjoying the city. The beach and pier were not as stunning as we expected and Avila Beach, where we first visited the Pacific Ocean on this trip was a much more relaxing place than Santa Barbara. So overall, good, but probably not that good to return to.

Solvang was a place recommended to us to visit as it is a small Danish town in the heart of California. For something so 'non American' it was a nice place to spend an hour or two enjoying nice ...

... Arrived at Ventura our destination for three days, Ventura is described as a typical Californian coastal surfing town. We found it to be unpretentious and a real place rather than a tourist destination. Nice individual privately owned shops, cafés and bars on the main street and an eclectic mix of second hand and antique clothes shops. Ventura had anice prom, sandy beach and pier and was far quieter than some places ...

Today is Thursday and we woke up outside of Mission Viejo at a Christian church parking lot that we found on google maps. Thank you Lord. I fried up bumpy egg on grits and livermush for me and sausage links for her. We then drove to Huntington beach and climbed down the dumped broken up concrete pieces to the sand. We just chilled at the beach and watched a lot of surfers in head high perfect waves. I am sad that I have lost almost all desire to ...

... br> The ladies group rode between Charlie and Delta companies from Santa Barbara to Ventura. I chose to ride with the Charlie group on the flat coastal road into Ventura. We saw pods of dolphins in the water, chatted amiably, and got run over by the ladies group!

They were on us within about 15 minutes of leaving the Harbor. They can be just as loud as the guys and were quite vocal with their taunts...we chose ...
