      ROAD TRIP: MONTEREY TO VENTURA

It was day 2 of my road trip down the California coast. I had plenty of miles to cover and plenty of things to see and do. In fact, it would prove to be a much longer day than I had originally anticipated. I made sure I was up and organised nice and early. I checked out, scoffed a bit of brekkie at the hotel, grabbed a banana and a yoghurt to go, …

Fuelled by the free make-your-own pancakes in the hostel we were back on our bikes the next morning and soon at SB seafront, where we were greeted with hoards of cyclists on their early Sunday outing; all going considerably faster than us. We decided to try our luck elsewhere. Unfortunately we were still in "**** end" so this was ...

... really lovely cycling - there are lots of RV sites here that let them park right on the ocean, must be lovely at night with the sound of the waves (apart from the occasional train!). Then there's a diversion for the bike path as there's road works & we have to go along the 101 but facing the oncoming traffic going North but there is a concrete barrier for us to cycle behind so it's great but then the barrier goes & we're not ...

... everyone upon arrival in Ventura that we had "pulled" the ladies into town...that only served to increase the taunting! I was impressed again!

Today we finish our ride with a 58 mile ride through Malibu and then into Santa Monica and onto the Santa Monica Pier...I'm kind of sad this morning as I type this....I'll miss my friends and the camaraderie of this great group.

Until tomorrow! God Bless America! Brian ...
