Non Travel Day
It had stopped raining overnight but the sky was still
overcast and thankfully the creek has receded somewhat, but it is still over its banks. Because it was cloudy this morning Valerie and Sue went shopping while Jack and Al stayed home to

good meal. When we emerged from the restaurant it was raining heavily, and it continued to rain all afternoon and late into the night. It rained a total of 7 inches today, and the creek in back of their Sue & Al’s home rose several feet, flooding the lower part of their property.

Leaving Vicksburg we headed west on I-20 across Louisiana
to Shreveport, and from there we headed north on US 71 into Arkansas and our
destination of Mena Arkansas. We arrived
at our good friends, Sue and Al, home late in the afternoon. After an enjoyable dinner at a local restaurant
we spent the evening catching up on what has happened since we last saw them.

Shane had a "Crater Burger" (Chicken fried steak burger) which was monstrous. I had a turkey sandwich. Both we're good. Then headed to the Crater of Diamonds to strike it rich. We had been advised before we arrived to wait until the next morning to go to avoid the heat. But neither of us being morning people we did not hied their advice. ...
