Historical Traveler Reviews Otter Creek Inn Alexandria Bay

    Loved the Otter Creek

    from

This was the first trip that I had not chosen a place to stay,or at least a couple of options , before our arrival. We walked around because the afternoon was so nice and stopped in around 6 places. We chose Otter Creek because the room was large, clean, and had a bathtub and a fridge. My husband was impressed the owner offered to show a room right away. (Usually you have to ask) The people were very nice. They handled a toilet problem with a smile.(Even I was mad at my husband for causing it!) They were very helpful with area information and offered umbrellas when it started to rain! The Otter Creek is great. I would stay there again and will reccommend it to people. I had just returned from one night in Atlantic City at the Tropicana and my room there was very similar...the bathroom was larger, that was about the only difference besides the $450.00 MORE that I paid for it. My husband and I are frequent travelers. I prefer 4 to 5 stars and he prefers 2 and under(cheap) so we usually have to met in between when we travel together. Both of us enjoyed the Otter Creek.

    A Peaceful Inn

    from

This quiet, clean establishment in Alexandria Bay is an excellent value. It was just what we were looking for -- close enough to walk to the restaurants downtown and access to the water -- at a very reasonable price for a resort area. Our hosts at the inn were helpful and friendly. It was a great base for our exploration of the 1000 Islands area. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to other travellers visting the area.

Mature adult who follows the rules and loved the stay!!!

    from

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in one room while friends of ours stayed in another. The owners/staff do ask you to sign paperwork stating how many people will be staying in the rooms and one stating that you will not destroy their property (which is totally understandable). If you are a mature adult looking for somewhere clean, nice, and affordable...this is the place for you!!!

The owners/staff are very friendly and willing to give suggestions for places to visit, good photo spots, and great places to eat.

    Awesome!!!!!

    from

First of all I'd like to say the Otter Creek Inn has the best room rates, the rooms are very clean, and the management is wonderful. My husband is originally from the bay, and we visit as often as possible. His father is still living in the bay area and we visit him at least twice a year. We have stayed at Otter Creek Inn every time we are there, and have never had a problem, until this past week, when these young, and irresponsible girls decided to make it uncomfortable. They were rude and kept us up til all hours of the night. The owners of Otter Creek tried to be pleasant, but these "young ladies" and I use that term lightly, decided they wanted to make everyone in the Inn know they were there. Dennis and Deb, the owners tried everything possible to give these girls a chance, but they were out to have fun no matter the cost to the other guests. Otter Creek Inn is the best value for the money, and it is the only place to stay while in the bay. It is in a nice quiet area and yet close enough to walk to the village, and experience the attractions the village has to offer. I give Otter Creek 100% of my business and will continue to do so.

    A great place to stay

    from

My family and I recently stayed at the Otter Creek Inn and we were very pleased with the service and hospitality we received while we were there.

Unfortunately there was a problem with a group of young girls who stayed there during the same time who had no reguard for others in the Inn, they were disrespectful of all others staying there. The owners asked the group to keep the noise down at 1am when they returned from the bars, and again later that morning they were again asked to keep the noise down. The problem was quickly taken care of and the rest of our stay was wonderful.

We have stayed here over the last 3 years and have enjoyed it each and every time and the owners are always available to assist in anyway they can and will insure that your stay is comfortable. They have docking available for the avid boater or fisherman and the rates are very reasonable. This is a clean and quiet place to stay.

Fantastic in Every Way. Could not be better

    from

I found this place by accident and was very impressed with the cleanliness, comfort and atmosphere.

The owners were always on-site and were very pleasant to deal with. You could tell they took a lot of pride in their Inn and always made sure I was happy.

The boat docks were a nice unexpected treat for the kids so they could fish.

I would recommend the Otter Creek Inn to anyone and I will stay there again.

    Excellent Stay

    from

I will stay here at Otter Creek Inn again. The water access to the river is excellent and the walk to dowtown is easy. The management was very informative to me as to when quiet hours were and what the rules of the facility were. I will encourage my family and freinds to stay here also.

    Horrible Service, Foul Smelling Rooms

    from

I do not recommend this hotel. The staff members, who are also the owners, were inconsiderate and rude. I don't know how any establishment could be run like this. My room was foul smelling and so were the linens. There is a very clear reason as to why this hotel was the only hotel in the area with vacancy at the time I needed a room. I have also reported this hotel to the Better Business Bureau. Take caution if you are staying here.

This may be the group that was unhappy about the complaints we received from other guests that we had to address.

We are in the business the to provide a pleasant and comfortable stay for all the guests. If issues arise, as reported from the other guests, we have to inform the offending parties of their poor behavior. This can be upsetting to all the parties involved. We do our best to treat everyone in a friendly and respectful manner, as we do want new and repeat guests.

    Quiet on a canal - 2 stories

    from

We were looking for someplace quiet for a good night's sleep and this place was perfect. Even had fridge in our room. Picnic tables by the canal and lawn chairs were a treat. Rate was around $70 +/- per night in August. Staff very helpful.

    ... chores.

When the rain finally cleared the three of us went on a bike ride, but our bikes weren’t responding well to the large puddles and muddy tracks so we headed back early. Just as I was pedalling up the road I spotted a Snapping Turtle, and as Nils confirmed she was laying eggs I bolted it back to the house to grab my camera and tell Emily what we’d found.
