I stayed at the Ohio House Motel twice in July/August 2013 following a recommendation by a friend. I was a bit apprehensive as to what to expect from a motel but I was very impressed with what was provided. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and tidy and the location is fantastic. The Magnificent Mile is only about 6 blocks away, there are plenty of eating establishments near and is close to the L. On top of all of this there is free parking (not guaranteed though) and free wifi. All in all would I recommend this? Yes. Would I stay again? Definitely

The scenery has noticeably changed over the last several days, and we've left the mountains and hills …

Our first dinner in Chicago was at the Pizzeria Uno, which is where the famous deep dish Chicago pizza was invented. We were very impressed and very full afterwards. We could only eat two slices each.

So the journey diagonally from Madison down to Chicago was a joy.A whole series of well kept farmsteads - calapboard house and well maintained reddish brown farmbuildings just next door. And then you come across a bank building standing all alone. The trees are a glorious mix of golds and reds - better again through my rose-tinted sunglasses.

Then we split, the Lowry's off to American Girl (to ship off one doll for eye surgery) and to buy some more paraphenelia, then to the Field museum. Joan, Carlos and I took off for our architectual tour of the old and new buildings of Chicago.
The tour was fabulous, despite the over two hours of walking all over downtown. It was great weather for ...
