... Visited the courthouse - it was rebuilt in 1929 to the same standard as the one that burnt down in the 1925 earthquake. An amazing building with a very Spanish influence - lots of tiling (exactly as we had seen in Portugal). We walked to the top of the tower for amazing views over the city.

They are for sure a lot of fun to watch… you could watch them forever, they are so cute how they move and how far they can bend themselves. Especially the male ones look real funny with their long nose – which only grows after puberty when they are 5 years old.

We went to the Everhoj Museum of History and Art there and were really impressed with the hard work the Danes had put in here. Solvang was just one of a number of Colonies founded by Danish immigrants during the late 19th and early 20th Century. Danish immigration numbers began in the late 1860's.
1. By 1870, 30,000 had settled in the USA;
2. The 1880's added another 90,000;
3. By 1930, 380,000 had immigrated.

The good news was that at higher altitude no fog, but the castle really is quite a let down other than the gardens which were beautiful. The castle is a glorified Butlins, a concrete shell clad in expensive items bought in from Europe.
