      ... have found a truck wash will finally clean off all that road salt before leaving cape canaveral.Hotter weather there 27-28 here only 19 cloudy here.
      After Ft. Lauderdale heading for the Keys lots to see there will stay maybe 1-2 nites.

      Apart from our annual trip to New York (see separate entry) our only 'activity' was to drive down to Southern Florida on two occasions.

      The first was to celebrate Thanksgiving. We drove down a day early to spend time with Germaine and then have dinner with Pierre (Diane was working) before overnighting in Boca.

      Well, it would be a lie to say I did a hell of a lot else in Florida than visit one bar after the other. The Sebastian Beach Inn, just along the beach from the house I was staying in, was the most regular haunt. A bar that stands out for me for a few reasons, it was where I had Buffalo Shrimp for the first time, it had a picture carved behind the bar of what I assume was a tribesman but who had a penis for a nose, it was where my godfather ...

But all too soon, a blanket of amusement was dropped over the whole thing and slick presentation smothered all passion that had been roused by the Apollo centre. The "Robot Scout" hall was an appalling travesty of the unmanned space programme - all scientific content was removed in a lame attempt at entertainment........and a Tom Cruise ...
