Beach walks, Miss Mollie & jetty jumping

... Here we are, today, Sunday 4th October. And for the third consecutive day, I had just one person to drop off for the early bus. Only difference is that the clocks went forward last night, so the morning bus is now 6:25am rather than 5:25am! Excellent news! For nearly 4 months I'd been putting off doing the jetty jump in the harbour, not because I was scared (ok maybe a tiny bit)! But it was 'only 7m' and the deck on that infamous Ha Long Bay boat was almost as high, so ...

... We decided against the second expression session in the afternoon as we felt that moving was too much effort. Instead we sunbathed for a couple of hours and then took part in the afternoon activity - kangaroo golf. We all went to a driving range to hit a few balls...no one else had played before other than the guide, so I was pro! Haha. Once we'd done that, we went on a kangaroo hunt! There was hundreds of them ...

... never expected to see one in Australia! Although it was actually quite a cool little place, with a model village and a workshop in which we witnessed how a pair of clogs are made from scratch! There were 3 people to be dropped off early on Thursday 16th, which unlike yesterday, makes waking up at 4:45am worthwhile. Instead of going straight back to bed, it was time to finally Skype my 'sister' Olivia back home! Really enjoyed catching up with you Happy ...

... by the smell). Next morning before we left Byron Bay and started our drive south, we drove up to the lighthouse, parked the car and on the short walk up, looked down into the bay to see a pod of maybe 50 dolphins jumping in the surf. As we watched, a huge manta ray swam in behind them. Within the next few minutes we also saw a turtle and a magnificent large bird, which we have since been told was probably a Brahminy ...

... was a nothing day really - lots of rain (100 mill). On Saturday, we packed up and drove to Alstonville and found a nice spot at the showgrounds.

Sunday November 30 - drove to Ballina on the coast and met Ken and Lyn Delany at their home. We met them over a drink at Burdekin Dam on June 1st and had exchanged details. They took us for a drive around Ballina with lunch at the RSL. They live in an over 55's ...
