Day 4 A relatively leisurely start and a good free breakfast of scrambled egg, bacon and sausage, orange juice and coffee. We had a day to fill before dropping the Jeep back to Newark Airport. There was an interesting area south of New York with a lighthouse, part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. We calculated a two hour plus drive through …

I haven't seen her for over a year and she has been living in the US for about 12 years. Jen is probably my oldest friend, as in I have known her the longest of all my friends since we started kindergarten together when we were five. I think she has been in every school photo I have had over the years!

Anyway, we have arranged to meet up near Central ...

This morning I headed down to South Street Seaport to buy tickets for a show tonight. SUCCESS! We had a 1.30pm meeting with Sam Tsemberis from Housing Pathways up in Harlem. In the immediate area he was in, they were providing housing to 750 homeless individuals. They house people in private basic units. Their focus is in the individual not the house, so if the housing breaks down they move with ...

Today I explored the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope. Before I did that I visited a salon in the neighboring area of Prospect Heights. When I was on my way to the concert last night I walked by this salon with some of the employees on the sidewalk soliciting business. This was perfect for me since I was in desperate need of a haircut. They gave me a coupon for 20% off so I booked myself an appointment for today! I decided to get some ...
