Very scary like the Bates Motel
We were very disappointed in the 2 bedroom suite. It did not appear clean anywhere. There were no utencils, glasses, coffee pot or anything in the kitchen other than a gas stove in a corner and a microwave. The main bedroom was the livingroom and there was no clock or radio. The TV had no remote. There was no room for a dresser or nightstand in the 2nd bedroom. The bathroom was the bear minimum. I don't think the towels were even clean. No hairdryer. Nothing. Lighting was even poor. The front door did not close securely. On Sat and Sun morning we were awakened by garbage trucks. It was the worst motel I have ever stayed in and a total ripoff for $189 a night. Sleeping in our car would have been better.
Warm and inviting Motel !!
What a find! I have been coming to Pismo Beach for more than 30 years, first with my parents and brothers and sister on our annual family summer vacations. Now I bring my own kids once a year or so. We have stayed at the Edgewater for the past 10 or so years but the Ocean Breeze Inn was recommended by some old friends so we decided to give it a try. We are definately creatures of habit and do not take to change readily but from registration until check-out we were very pleased with the accomodations and the service provided by the Motel staff. We were given room #5 which was a two bedroom suite. We had a Television in each room, a refrigerator, a microwave oven and a couch in the main living area. The room was immaculate. I am very picky when it comes to the cleanliness of a motel room in which I will be staying and this room was up to my standards and beyond. The location of the Ocean Breeze Inn is one of the best things about it. We parked our car in the parking lot and did not move it for 5 days. Everything in Pismo Beach is within walking distance of the motel and you can hear the Ocean surf break against the pier at night in bed! There are no massive stairways to climb down to get to the beach, you just step off the curb and you are standing in sand. The thing that really made our trip so memorable though was the Manager that was on duty. He was very gracious and always had a smile on his face. He had a warm smile and an infectcious laugh and I witnessed him handleing a couple of potentially sticky situations with good humor and professionalism. They have a continential breakfast at the Ocean Breeze Inn and there was music playing in the room they served it in. I was really enjoying listening to the songs, it was an eclectic mix, everyone from Billie Holliday to the Beatles to Johnny Cash! I commented to the Manager that I really enjoyed his selection of tunes and later that afternoon he delivered a CD he had burned featuring music I had heard that morning. That is service above and beyond the norm! I have the CD at home now and listen to it often. It always brings back memories of the great time we had this summer in Pismo Beach!
The pool at The Ocean Breeze Inn is great. It is bigger than the average motel pool and there is a light airy feeling inside the pool building. You can tell great care is taken to keep it clean and functional. All in all I wholeheartly suggest the next time you find yourself in Pismo Beach, check out The Ocean Breeze Inn...I can promise you won't be sorry!
Great Motel, Great Price!
My family and I recently traveled to Pismo Beach California for a celebration honoring my parents on their 50th wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Ocean Breeze Inn which is less than half a block from the beach. What a great find!! It was very clean, very comfortable and the staff was very professional. Our room had a nice view of the Ocean and the evening sunset! My kids really had fun in the indoor heated pool! Our room had a microwave and refrigerator in it and a nice big TV with HBO. Here's the best part; the price was much less than we had paid in the past at some of the other hotels in the area. All in all, my family and I give a big thumbs up to The Ocean Breeze Inn and not only will we be back, but highly reccommend it to everyone.
Great website, but it's false advertising.
I will say that the gentleman I made the reservations with was nice and welcoming, but I was and am very displeased with Ocean Breeze Motel. Within 20 minutes of checking in I checked right on out.
I've stayed in all kinds hostels with hostel prices. The Ocean Breeze MOTEL ranks down there with worst hostels, and I was expected to pay over $100/night.
The room was hot with no A/C and no screen on the window (bugs & robbers are not my cup of tea). Their was a ceiling fan but the pull chain was completely missing so it was of no use. The walls had been repainted without being patched, so holes and bald spots were all over. The bathroom counters had holes in them that someone had attempted to repair (poorly) and then painted over (in a different color) with what looked like, of all things, nail polish . The damage was quite noticeable.
The lighting provided by the 2 small lamps was poor and I had to pay a $5 cash deposit for the TV's remote control and the room key, which was a single key handed to me. No handy keychain, no room number, nothing; easy to lose.
When I attemped to make other sleeping arraingments using the phone I found I couldn't. After pressing "0" the front desk told me I needed to come down and make another cash deposit to use the phone.
My ocean view was a small patch above the roofs of neighboring buildings, the pool buliding echoed the loud screams of children and the front desk area was an office version of a junk drawer (which should have tipped me off when I checked in).
Needless to say, I returned to the front desk to check out and forfited 60 bucks for the "cancellation." (Is it a cancellation if I've already checked in? I arrived and found the facilities seriously lacking. I held up my end of the deal. It was the motel that faulterd.)
Now, days and phone calls later, my credit card has been charged rather than credited and an extra $110 was charged 4 days AFTER I left the motel.
Still waiting for $700 to be credited to my Visa.
i have been staying there for years but the staff has been getting harder and harder to work with. yes it is old and run down and at times the other guests have been on the loud and skummey side.
and at times very routie. the last straw was i made a reservation and canceled but they still charged my credit card. they have not refunded me and i have to go the route of getting the credit card company involved. i will not be staying there again and i will tell every one that is going to pismo about the treatment i recieved
Great location, friendly folks.
I've been going to Pismo Beach for 20 years. I have stayed at most of the hotels. This place is close to the beach and for half the price. I park my car and walk every where. My kids love the indoor pool. The customers and staff are friendly.
Ocean Breeze Inn was great!
The Ocean Breeze in was very nice! Cheap, easy and fast access to the beach, not even a block to the downtown shops, attendant staff were courtious, great customer service, and the Inn even has an indoor pool which isn't much but is nice to have. Only problem was that the cancelation policy for the rooms are strict.
My family has been staying at this hotel for many years. Although it is old, they have remodeled. In addition, it is a great place to bring your family.
I've stayed a the Ocean Breeze Inn and found it was a wonderful place.
Close to downtown. But far enough away that the night time noise could not be heard. We will be staying at this hotel again.
Not a family Motel
The Ocean Breeze Inn is a small two story Motel less than a block from the beach and about three blcoks from the pier. The Motel is old and the the three room suite we stayed in was fairly clean but just felt small and run down. The lime green paint job was repulsive and the pictures were noticeably screwed into the wall. To give you an idea of the clientele who frequent this establishment, you must place a deposit on your room keys and TV remote control before you check in. While we were there with our 4 children, there was a group of bikers (also staying in the Motel) drinking and smoking outside their room.
The bedding was not fitted so the sheets slipped off of the bed quite frequently. The indoor swimming pool is just plain gross. The water appeared clean but the paint is peeling on the walls and floor in the very dark pool house. It does not feel clean nor is it a place one would wish to sit and relax poolside. We let our kids swim for a bit but couldn't wait to get out of there. The pool area, like the rest of the Motel is just old and run down.
On the plus side, we found the staff to be friendly and the daytime manager to be quite helpful. When the maid left for the day without cleaning our room, the daytime manager cleaned up our room herself.
The Motel is less than a block from the beach and only a few blcoks from the pier. The Motel is cheaper than the beachfront hotels but was still $125.00 a night for a suite (in the off season).
If you are looking for a family friendly hotel this is not the place.
If you want a place to crash with your fellow surfer dudes while you ride the waves than this may be the place for you.
