After a most peaceful sleep we enjoyed finally waking up in the middle of nowhere. It has been so hard finding free places to stay in the USA compared to Canada. ... at the end of he Boardwalk. We saw a couple of gators on our ride as well as an ibis, a blue heron, egrets and a couple of small snakes (one of which was injured). Drove to Jekyl Island first today. Arrived around 1:30. Drove to the far side of the island to a picnic area and had lunch. We enjoyed a walk along the driftwood beach and took pictures of some of the interesting driftwood specimens. We were on the road again by 3:00 - heading to Waycross, Georgia. Tomorrow we move on to Crawfordville for 3 days and plan to be home on Monday. Our trip is really winding down and we are looking forward getting home.
