New York City, NY: Day 3

... shopping at Macy's and dad even wanted to go to the movies. Again, a very very rare moment for dad. Not wanting to quash dad's movie desire, she let him choose what they would watch; he chose 50 Shades of Grey. Haha. We met up for dinner later on; I chose a place nearby - listed early on in the top 50 cheap eats of NYC. It was Taiwanese, which Ryan said he didn't care about, anything with 'Thai' is '****'. He moped all through dinner and refused to even pretend to like ...

... The views, architecture, buildings are fantastic - took lots of photos and enjoyed a nice relaxed walk, albeit cold (we didn't bring all our warm gear so felt it a bit today). A nice hot coffee & hot chocolate in Dumbo (down under the Manhattan bridge overpass) and then a walk round the Brooklyn Heights promenade with great views over to ...

Sleep in this morning after the late night after the basketball. Another NY diner for breakfast though this one not so great - food was good but everything was in takeaway cups, plates and plastic cutlery etc... Got the subway downtown to Chelsea and walked the highline which is an old elevated railway line that used to used in the meat and produce areas from the 1920's through to late 20th century. It fell into ruin before ...

... so quiet. After finishing the memorial we had some lunch and then checked out Century 21. Went back to our room to get warm and then got ready to go to the Lion King. Had tea at Applebys for tea and then went and watched the Lion King on Broadway. Was a great show, we really enjoyed Rafiki and Timone and Pumba. Went home after the show as it was ...

      Miss Liberty here I come

A travel blog entry by rubyredlips on Oct 08, 2014

My 4:30am body alarm woke me, followed by a 6am fire alarm, which was not your normal fire alarm sound but more like a ringtone for a phone - very weird. So off to Gregory's for our morning fix until things settled down. It's time to start our journey to see Miss Liberty. We jump on the subway, the 'R'line. At first the thought of taking the subway is a bit daunting as you think of the way they are on the films. We were pleasantly surprised. It was very well lite and clean- not a ...
