    Today we cycled over McKenzie pass, the first really big climb. In this case, over a high mountain pass, with snow. Everybody was anxious yesterday evening about the climb and there was serious discussion of an alternative route, but we all made it unscathed. Later we visited a bike shop which served beer!!     ... mix. Too much traffic and tight places! Lunch was spent at a nice rest area right beside a big field of pumpkins! I guess it really is getting to be fall.

    ... in for gas at a place called Boardman. They had a little drive in called C&D Drive In, which was the home of the Bozo burger, so we thought, why not? Let's try it out. Sad to say...it wasn't that great. But oh well! We finally ended up in Bend and pulled up to a Holiday Inn to find a room for the night. The guy told us he didn't have any, and then called a whole bunch of hotels who didn't have any rooms either. Apparently Bend is a pretty popular place! ...

    Mount Si is a mountain in North Bend Washington. It is roughly 40 minutes East of Seattle. The mountain is 4,167 feet tall, but the hike is only 3,500 up because it starts above sea level. The trail to the top is 4 miles long. This trail was supposed to be a start in preparing us to climb Mt Rainier this summer. I want to do a lot of hiking together in our first summer in Washington because we are aging ...
