... 3-5 on the rictar scale!!!! this is not enough to do and damage however. wellington has a earthquake every week and NZ gets 15000 earthquakes a year! i got to go in a simulator earthquake house it was very wobbly.
i spent this moring sheltering from the rain and then picked up my new car its even older than the last 1 and has done 250000km and looks like it will fall apart any minute but appears to go alright so i hope it makes it a little further.

Will you be my friend?

... in the 16th century. Think V for Vendetta. Anyway, we liked to imagine the fireworks were for us. Like I said, we've had amazing weather and enjoyed some time walking along the harbor. There is a farmers market every Sunday afternoon which we will be sure to start taking advantage of once we find an apartment.

We are excited to announce that we made one friend. We met him Saturday and must have charmed him because we exchanged numbers. (We ...

... the least stuffy safety video ever. It was hilarious – viz "awww if you wanna smoke, sorry you’re bum outta luck as that is a big no no!"

What I watched: The evening news on NZ1 – was nice to be back.

What I read. About three pages on the NZ lonely planet.

What I listened to: While I was writing up several days of travel-loggage I span through Andorra by Caribou and Start Breaking my Heart by Manitoba – actually both 'bands ...

To Tattoo, or Not To...

... He's finally found something he wants and was all set to take the plunge, but unfortunately his artist couldn't do it yesterday, so he must once again get all psyched up for it in a few weeks.

Our day's tattoo-related fun continued, however, with a trip to the National Tattoo Museum. I had high hopes seeing as it was listed in the Lonely Planet guide, but the reality was laughable. We did, in fact, laugh! The upside, I suppose, was ...

Retrospective Entry - Windy Wellington

... to be any hard and fast rules only that you the passenger are victim to the whim of a security guard, check in clerk or over zealous airport worker. However, so far this trip I've only lost a tube of toothpaste that was confiscated at Brisbane airport. Arriving in New Zealand customs are more concerned with rogue fruit being inadvertently smuggled into the country, due to someone forgetting to eat their lunch that they had packed for the flight. Whilst ...

Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook

... No bathroom or kitchen this time. The NZ campgrounds have wonderful communal kitchens. This one had 3 stoves, two microwaves, two full size refrigerators and a chest freezer. Cooked our meals using the communal facilities. Was fun to see what everyone was cooking and get to talk with others from NZ and afar. On to Mount Cook Village. Arrived early so decided to hike until check in time. Very cloudy ...

DAY 12 and 13

... off down the sound. I can't tell you how lucky we were as this is the second wettest place in the world with over 7 metres and 200+ days of rain - we had clear skies and sunshine for the whole trip. Words can't really describe how beautiful it was - because of the rain the sides of the fiord, which I expected to be rockface, were thickly forested and it was so peaceful as there is just no civilization about. We sailed ...

Day 49 - Wellington

... we were shopping Kelly took an interest in a picture that had 3 different sepia photographs of Wellington in it. She mentioned that she had one similar but with pictures of the other place she lived in. This seemed like the perfect gift to get her, so Phil suggested going to the Museum and I said I would go back with Kelly (so he could nip off and get it for her). Me and Kelly went to one of the sea front bars and got a cocktail each and sat in the sun for a ...

Welcome to Middle Earth

... there was costumes and props from all the major characters - well except Merry, Pippin and Sam which I found strange as they did have costumes from other characters that weren't so central to the storyline - and everything was so finely made, the costumes were amazing they looked exactly like you would have imagined clothes from back in the day to look - and all the swords and stuff were the real deal, they hired special sword making people and everything, can you imagine ...
