We got to the Bean sculpture, which is a massive stainless steel sculpture about 6 metres high, loads of people again but really cool to go and touch it, or take photos of your reflection. From there we walked down (after being told off by security for sitting somewhere we shouldn't...sigh) to the ice skating rink only in time to see them finish scraping it (or whatever
they do) with a massive machine, but no one ice skating ...

... a road train. The scenery was still nice though so I enjoyed the drive. Once the truck moved it was smooth sailing but still another 80 miles worth of single lane which thankfully widened beyond the next main town. What I didn't expect was the widened road to be a toll way, at least not this far out of Chicago. At least I thought so, they were just getting WELL ahead of the game with their signage. I reached the toll booth and crossed through with ease. A while later there was ...

... After awhile we somehow worked our way into a section that was less crowded and without kids. (I must be getting to be a grumpy old man. As W. C. Fields would have said: “A man who hates children and dogs can’t be all bad.”) We ended up as usual with a trip to the gift shop before taking a taxi back to the train station.

Amazingly enough boarding the Southwest Chief was our first encounter with Amtrak stupidity and it happened at ...

... I had coffee and breakfast with Jeremy at a great resturant called the Orange. They have orange flavored coffee that's fantastic. Along with the ham, pinnapple, coconut omelet, I'm sad to leave Chicago so soon. I really needed more time to explore and see what the city has to offer. I did meet up with some Atlanta friends last night and hit the town again. Lots of fun but a very late night.

Ohare is one of the most less entertaining airports in the world there nothing to do a few shops to buy candy and a few food places thats it

Do Not Read if you don't know me! I had to switch in Chicago again, but unlike last time which consisted of missing seeing Christy and rushing over to get some Indian food before my train left, I had a full 3 hours of wandering. I didn't wander actually but had a clear destination - organic baked goods at Bleeding Heart! I had thought the place was vegan but it wasn't. It did have some vegan things to choose from so I suited up with candy, scone, brownie and sandwich. Then I walked ...

... It took us 3 hours to get it done (no change, broken machine, no washing powder, blah blah blah!!) and then we went out shopping again!! We also went into the John Hancock Building for a hot chocolate looking out over the whole city which was beautiful and cheap as we sat in the bar so didn't have to pay to go into the observatory! Tomorrow we fly out of Chicago and into LA hopefully for some warmer weather! And Disneyland on Monday! Cant wait!! Lots of love, Ten
