      Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...

      ... 3kms later we arrived at the restaurant.... called Lucia :-)

      We both chose to go with a seafood dinner of prawns for entree and lobster ravioli for the mains. After dinner we headed back to our hotel for a rest before the midnight fireworks celebration over the harbour and to pack for the morning flight to Washington.

      ... we'd see something as that was heading towards the White Mountains. And this little conversation started the most lovely lovely day! We got the car and headed inland towards a town called Fryeburg, and as we headed inland we started seeing bits of snow on the sides of the road.... then a frozen lake.... and gradually all of the frozen parts appeared more and more, until we were surrounded by (icy) snow that had fallen a while ago but not melted. ...

      Slow wake up this morning and decided to ask about staying an extra night here. They had room for us to stay so we paid for the room and then asked about bike rental. The owner said they rent bikes opposite to the motel. We went over and rented two bikes for half a day only $15. We had two choices to go to ogunquit or kennebunk. We decided to go to ogunquit as the weather was so good and it's got lots of beaches. We ...
