Cold ... Cold ...
Harbin is one of my favourite cities in China. I'm a winter person and love the snow and cold and Harbin in the winter is the epitome of all that is awesome about winter. Dalian and Qingdao were pretty cold, but nothing, NOTHING prepared either of us for how cold Harbin was. We took a shuttle bus from the airport into town where we tried to take a …
Harbin Siberian Tiger Reserve
We went to the Siberian Tiger Reserve which was a bit outside of the city. I was really disappointed on the bus ride through the reserve. The windows were dirty and fogged up and it was not only impossible to take any decent pictures through the window and it was just as hard to see through it.
At the end of the bus ride though, …
Ice Festival
We went to the Ice Festival the first time at night and it was one of the coolest (no pun intended) things I've seen in my life. It’s a bit expensive for one night but totally worth it. Once you get inside the festival gates there’s a giant ice thermometer that displays how cold it is. The grounds were complete with ice slides – …
UNIT 731
The 731 is quite a bit of a ride outside of the city. The museum itself was a bit of a letdown, but worth going to. There were mostly things written on plaques and small artifacts that were recovered from the buildings that had exploded. The majority of it wasn't too exciting and I think I learned more about what happened on the internet. But being …
I wonder what temperature ice melts in Harbin?
The ice festival. So today i agreed to go to the polar aquarium. Aka "polar land" I was very excited about seeing the seals and polar bears but not looking forward to the sharks and scary fish. We left the hotel around 10 and my anxiety was building. The cab driver totally screwed us over and the ride ended up being around 85 yuan. It's so …

TravelPod Member ReviewsNanyuan Inn (Harbin Guogeli)
The hotel is really nice, and our room was very clean and warm. We are in the mids of a 9 night stay in Harbin. The people at the hotel are very helpful and willing to answer questions even if they don't understand English. There is one computer in the lobby that guests can use. We looked up places online and had one of the women write the characters down for us. There is NO WIFI, but there are ethernet ports in the room.
Very nice and close to most everything in the city.
