... We saw nothing but rolling hills/mountains. Almost felt like we were back in CT as we saw road signs for New Haven, Hartford and Boston. We quickly realized that we weren't. The amazing countryside is beautifully manicured with horse farms. Absolutely stunning! We drove thru the Daniel Boone National Forrest as we took the Bluegrass Parkway to Elizabethtown.

I managed to get a really bad cold so spent the day feeling miserable. Weather was pretty bad as well as was the traffic. This just comes under the heading, "Some days are just like that!". I slept like the dead after going to bed around 9 PM. We only stopped at 7:30 PM cause I kept pulling over to take a power nap. Had a very quick dinner of roast chicken which we bought earlier in the day along with a few other ...

We were only 4 miles away from the Kentucky Dam wen we stopped for lunch so we decided to take a little detour and visit. It was a nice day, but the smell of dead fish was a bit overwhelming when we walked down to the water. After exploring for a brief time we piled back in the car and headed on our way. ...

... planning to spend 3 days but we have been here for 10 days. This is another Corps of Engineers (COE) recreation area and like most of theirs it is on the water. We are on the Canal side of Lake Barkley between the Barkley Dam and the Kentucky Dam and can watch the immense barges float past . When we arrived we heard this strange buzzing noise and wondered what it was. We found out it was cicadas. Nora ...

... southeast wasn't preserved at all. In the early evening I drove into the Land Between the Lakes recreation area to try and find the primarily-submerged location of Fort Henry, and although I made a quick walk to the shoreline near the historic location I wasn't able to take the time to explore the trails leading to the few remaining rifle pits ...
