... 10am. The thunder and lightning had ceased and the rain had even eased some. There was a blanket of fog and low cloud cover as we drove around St. Ignace before heading to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. We checked on the local casino, one of the five Kewadin has on the U.P. (Upper Peninsula) - didn't go in but noted a nice RV Park with water and electric and a $10 a night rate; stopped at Paul Bunyan and Babe, his blue ox at Castle ...

Twelve Mile Beach Campground is quite nice but very different from Hurricane River. While one is set back in the woods with isolated campsites the other sits on a bluff above the lake and limited privacy to neighboring sites. Access to the beach at Twelve Mile is good and you can walk for miles without seeing anyone. Its also a great place to look for rocks. ...

... Caribbean blue water. This happens to the rock because of the minerals that are infused into the rock meeting with the ground water trickling down from the cliff. ... views and sensational sunset. Following the cruise, we picked up take-out pasties for supper on our way back to our campground. Pasties are a type of pie that miners used to take with them to work in their lunch buckets - filled with potatoes, rudabagas and meat- and are a specialty in Michigan's Upper Penninsula (UP)
