I reluctantly relocated to Kachess Lake, which was only an hour and a half from Seattle, from which I'd be grabbing a shuttle up to Vancouver. The drive was lush farmland, cows, hills dotted with wildflowers. Little villages. One town where I got gas had a proud sign proclaiming "Meth Busters!" just underneath the name of the town.
