We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

... Shell station to pick up some apple cider and got a bonus prize for our efforts; F'Real milkshakes! So far, we really like Mt. Shasta. Swigs mother also mentioned that they would be having a BBQ party the next day since Swig was home and we were welcome to come. ... on the other side. Once we got to the top, it was more meadow. In the distance, we saw a man who waved. I waved back and started to walk in his direction. We met him and told him we had never been there. He asked if we wanted any information on the meadow. So we said yes. There was also another man there, both in their 60s/70s.

There were sitting by a small pool with small waterfall from the creek/stream in the meadow. They said it was a healing pool, and you could put your feet ...

We started the day by going to the headwaters of the Sacramento River, which starts right in the city of Mount Shasta, at the base of the mountain. You can drink the water there because it comes right from the ground, so there is nothing to contaminate it yet. I filled up my water bottle and jug and used this water for my day. It was cool to see the start of the Sacramento River, which is a huge river that flows right ...
