We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

The tight camp woke up around 7 with a zest in our eyes. That always happens on town day. Town day gets people motivated. We made short work of the miles til lunch, and then I swear we moved faster still the second half of the day. That got us down to Interstate 5 by late afternoon. Swig lives in the immediate area and had his mom come meet him so he can take a few days off at the house. They were kind enough to give us a ...

      Vacancy...barely

Nothing like waking up next to a dirt road. There had been one bold and curious deer in the night but my timing was good and I am sure I gave it a solid scare. Other than that, we slept soundly. Straightforward day of hiking. There is a new water mentality as sources start spreading themselves out again. The weather has been on a humid and hot course these days and the hiking is unavoidably done soaking wet with sweat. I haven't been this aware of a ...

... on the other side. Once we got to the top, it was more meadow. In the distance, we saw a man who waved. I waved back and started to walk in his direction. We met him and told him we had never been there. He asked if we wanted any information on the meadow. So we said yes. There was also another man there, both in their 60s/70s.

There were sitting by a small pool with small waterfall from the creek/stream in the meadow. They said it was a healing pool, and you could put your feet ...

... that day too. The water was delicious!

All in all it was a successful day but the hike was brutal. I won't be doing it again. but it was my dream to hike up there and we were successful. We saw some great views of Mount Shasta in the distance too.

We ended the day by stopping at Hedge Creek Falls, which is just off the freeway. Its a small waterfall that you can walk behind. I also included a couple pictures of that.
