We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

... Shell station to pick up some apple cider and got a bonus prize for our efforts; F'Real milkshakes! So far, we really like Mt. Shasta. We started the day by going to the headwaters of the Sacramento River, which starts right in the city of Mount Shasta, at the base of the mountain. You can drink the water there because it comes right from the ground, so there is nothing to contaminate it yet. I filled up my water bottle and jug and used this water for my day. It was cool to see the start of the Sacramento River, which is a huge river that flows right ...
