... route took us through the lower section of Hells Canyon Recreation Area before we swung around and began heading west to complete our circle.
At Lick Creek we started to see some of the small stands of Aspen trees, which I really wanted to see, They were bright yellow.
We stopped at Halfway to stretch our legs, and then pushed on through high desert to Baker City where we stopped for the night.
Dinner at El Erradero was fantastic.

Eight days and 800 km of riding done and dusted!! 8,000 metres of vertical climbing too. We've now had a rest day and among other things, done some laundry. Today we saw a bear, in the wild. He bolted when he saw us. Are you surprised? What's my overall thoughts so far? - The countryside is spectacular!! - American drivers are really courteous. - As a "team" we're getting ...

We had all seen the great tv advertisements touting the "Seven Wonders of Oregon" and decided we would give it a go. Saw Barb ride yesterday, did a bit of sightseeing in Pendleton but found it very crowded with Rodeo activities ...

Since by this point it was already 4:00, I realized I wouldn't have enough time to drive there, get in a reasonable hike, and then drive back before it would begin getting dark (as I learned in Bighorn a few days ago, driving a steep, narrow mountain road at night is neither safe nor enjoyable). Instead, I thought I'd drive to the trailhead point and take the shorter .5mi path to Heaven's Gate, an ...

... D.C. This foundry made all of the bronze stars, rope, and wreaths that are a part of the memorial. They also made all of the life sized horses for the Freedom Fence in Germany to commemorate the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. We got some pictures of the duplicate horses that stand outside of the foundry. Friday, Aug. 22nd. Took our second ride up the tramway and hiked for a few hours before packing up and hitting the road for south eastern ...
