    Most times we drive Hwy 140 along the Merced River to get to Yosemite, but wanting to avoid the summer crowds in the valley as much as possible we opted to take 120 instead. On our way to the park we drove through the area scarred by the Rim Fire of Aug 2013. Although the fire spared most of Yosemite, it was saddening to see such widespread devastation (over 400 sq miles was torched over the ~2 months the fire burned). ...
