PCT Day 15

A travel blog entry by yankolimon on May 04, 2015

... There is always another thru-hiker you can hike with. Hiking alone today really allowed for some introspection, prayer, and meditation. We got to camp by 6:30pm. Some other thru hikers camped next to us as well. They told us the story of how they had found an abandoned tent and gear and a suicide note with a will near the trail at San Jacinto. They obviously told the authorities. That suicide has not been found ...

... at the hotel the kids went in the pool while we relaxed and showered, then a panic as the children's toilet blocked and overflowed, not sure what caused it as nobody seemed to know but we had to get the nice man from the previous night to sort it, he'll be glad when we're gone! Back at the ranch (Motel) we sat in the heated jacuzzi chatting to new arrivals. An amazing place we must come ...

A walk with the dog, a driving tour of the park, a picnic and our decision is made---we're not cut out to be trailer park folks. We'll stick with our plans to enjoy the galleries, symphonies, restaurants & bars of Palm Springs living in urban comfort. ...

Nature, Cure For Everything

... was a nice packed path for me to follow as far as I could go. I walked for a couple miles gaining somewhere around 1200 feet of elevation in roughly an hour and a half. I did the math, yes on my phone, and realized I would not be making the summit on this trip. Not a big deal to me at this point because nature was doing what I had come here for it to do, relax me. I walked on a little ways, always making sure to watch the clock because I did not want to be that guy who ...
