Day 13 - we stay still in Palm Springs.

... 10 minute ascent. At the top, some 8516ft up, the temperature was a rest from the heat below with amazing views. We could see all the way to the Saltan Sea (a lake really!) & even to the hills near Las Vagus some 350 miles away. We stopped for a drink admiring the view then headed down. We did a quick stop at a car showroom to have nose at some classic cars for auction then headed back to the Motel to chill by the pool for the afternoon. We had a lovely lazy time ...

Do You Say "Trailer Park" or "RV Park"?

... I think it's more politically correct to call them Recreational Vehicle Parks---so that's today's plan. In our final days in Nanaimo we met several friends who have wintered at "California's Largest RV Park" in Hemet. "Throw" in some frisbees, tennis balls and all of the owners and you've got the idea. We're convinced the "fetch" gene didn't reach our Jake. His pursuit of the orange ball is at best a lacklustre saunter in its general direction followed by a somewhat disdainful ...

... guys on benches outside the women's stores while humming a Brad Paisley tune " Waitin' on a Woman". Finally back to the condo for some pool time in 80 + F and blue sky's, than downtown for a street festival and a great dinner at a sidewalk restaurant where we met two fun retired couples with lots of stories to share. Another "A" day in Palm Springs again. Oh ya. About the biking? Didn't ...

Arrived at the camp around 5.30 in order to meet the host families. The drive down to the camp was so warm and it was boiling still at this time - it appears to warm up during the day until sunset. We were greeted by Chris the camp director who is a no nonsence cop with a great sense of humour. All the families were waiting in the club house I was assigned with the Schaefer family as I was small enough to fit in their bed lol. Then the family piped up everyone ...
