Radium hot springs was closed so we moved on with our plans to get to Baines Lake b.c. By evening. We stopped just at the red rocks and Michael spotted mountain goats. Three of them let him a good chance to photograph them. Finally an animal other than deer and critters less than a foot long. All along the roads they have put up animal protection ...

... to glance at our neighbours. “Look,” I say to Jim. “They are looking at some big paper thing over there. It looks like Google Maps!” We both laugh because we are so technologically connected that a real paper map seems quite obscure and foreign to us.

... 1pm so we had the whole afternoon to get there. On the way we travelled through Kootenay National Park so we stopped at a roadside lookout and also at Olive Lake which was right on the side of the highway. The temperature has been steadily dropping and in the mornings it is getting to a cool -2 degrees Celsius and only to 8 or 10 degrees during the day.
