... do the museum and we were still 28 km from the A1 road junction we should have been at at 1pm. The lady in the museum estimated it was 3 hours to Hamilton, so if we were on the road by 3 we should be in Hamilton by 6

... black sand. The only beach left was probably 40' or so wide, so it wasn't much. After playing around on the beach for 15 minutes we headed back to the highway to continue north.

... we had to practice our song (Waiata I think in Maori) and make up a dance routine for it. After 3 song changes we finlly settled on The Beatles ' Twist and Shout' and worked out a dacne for it too. Being a musician it annoyed me that people couldn't clap/sing in time or in tune or count in correctly (it's meant to all be the same rhythm and at the speed you're going to sing guys!) but hey gotta just enjoy everything. ...

Our final day began with a picnic brunch at the Tim Neville Aboretum park on Saturday morning. We got there at 10am - plenty early enough we thought, but we would not have wanted to be any later. Yet another blog from the land where the sun travels across the sky from right to left. It was again in the mid-twenties all day. After a good nights sleep for some (Viv was kept awake by other guests using the loo adjacent to her headboard and separated by only a thin panel.
