I laughed and decided to try to keep that in mind over the coming days.
Oh, and Belgrade was closer to 500 km into the Serbian leg of the EuroVelo 6 cycle route - not so viable for reaching in 24-48 hours on my juggernaut!

... led all the way to Sombor. Once again I enjoyed shouting some Mandarin at the countryside, but was also able to marvel at the plethora of rustic buildings which I encountered. I even had an adventure in the gas station trying to spend every single one of my last 200 forinths, just under 1 Euro!
The border crossing was more exciting than normal, there was actually a sign saying that I was entering another country and apart ...

... appear to be cobbled. Which explains why the route doesn't use some obvius roads. And another reason why a shortcut might be unavailable.
Last night I finally changed the speedo to KM losing the odometer reading in the process. I also set the clock by my watch.
So I'm now doing about 18km/h which is a slow 10 mph but the heat is tough. Stopping makes it worse. Forecast said 33 degrees today.

Back into Serbia
... a bit weird and fall asleep on the cushions more or less straight away. Later I get dizzy / weak spells but it improves through the afternoon and I have some food. Early in the afternoon a thunderstorm breaks out and it rains heavily for a couple of hours. Being in the hostel is quite convenient! I chat with an american girl who is here with her brother to meet her parents and take them to the village he lives in. Sadly I want to talk about the US ...
