        ... the barns a saw a few horses and talked with the folks taking care of them. One, a nearly totally white paint, named Casper, caught my eye. I got a decent shot of him with his owner. Photos, as well as older photos, will be on Flickr at flicker.com/photos/ralphieboyo by tonight or so.

        After our stay in West Yellowstone, we got on the gas pedal pretty good. Passed some historic mining areas in western Montana and Idaho, and had to go up, up, up, again over Homestake Pass, at 9,600 feet, and through the granite canyons known as the Boulder Batholith, a huge formation that stretches from Butte up to Helena, Montana. The cut through these mountains took some serious heavy equipment, since some off the cuts are hundreds of feet ...
